History of Growth
Premchand Jute Mill was established during the “British Rule”, and was amongst the leading manufacturers of jute products during the golden years. After changing multiple hands, we at Premchand Jute & Industries Private Limited (PJIPL) have been running it since 2005. Today it is reliving its glorious days and is well on its way to become a leader in the industry, engaged in the production of a wide range of quality jute products.
To enhance productivity, the company has made adequate investments to upgrade its machineries on a regular basis.
It is amongst the very few companies in the industry which is presently investing aggressively.
- 2005: Existing production capacity at 100% capacity utilization was 6,000MTPA
- 2008: It took the first step towards modernization by purchasing new and modernized plant & machinery to replace old machines in all departments, targeting a production capacity of 18,000MTPA.
- 2010: Taking advantage of renewed demand for green products the directors decided to expand further to increase the production capacity to 27,000MTPA
- 2013-14: Production capacity to be further increased to 36,000MTPA
Its product range includes Hessian Cloths & bags, Jute Yarn & Sacking Bags of various sizes made to customer specification. The Hessian cloth produced by PJIPL is renowned in the industry and is sold at a marked premium.
The company has gained a reputation in the market for timely supply of products and prompt payments to its suppliers
Facilities
Driven by a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility, the company is maintaining the premises in the most eco-friendly way.
Built on 80 acres of prime land, with a constructed area of “1.6million square feet” — the huge land bank will facilitate future expansion.
PJIPL has a fully integrated plant, ideally located on the banks of the river Hoogly, with close access to the railway station for ease of transportation. It is well connected to the NH6 by interlinking roads to facilitate movement of goods.
